Jewelry Care & Maintenance
All EyeSpy Jewels jewelry and accessories are handmade. Many with brass, copper, plated metal, natural stones, wood, sterling silver, and acrylic paints. We advise that you handle your jewelry with care.
To help you along, here are a few tips to ensure you will enjoy your jewelry for many moons to come:
Natural Stones: Protect your bracelets and stones from harsh chemicals and extreme temperatures. You should never wear your gemstones while swimming or showering. The chlorine can cause damage to various gemstones, gold, and brass.
Fabric Jewelry: Fabric jewelry should be treated as you would your clothing. Remove jewelry prior to bathing, swimming, or anything that would damage the fabric. Store jewelry in a dry place, in a jewelry box, pouch, or Ziplock bag. NOTE: Oils from hair and makeup will damage the fabric.
Metal plated: As with all metals, they tarnish over time. However, they can be kept clean with a dry cloth soft cloth. Store them in a clean, dry place. Put jewelry on after applying perfumes, cologne, makeup, hair spray, gels, lotions, and moisturizers.
Brass: is a natural metal that can oxidize to a darker warmer gold over time. To remove any oxidization and restore it back to a shiny gold color, you can use a soft polishing cloth. For more difficult tarnishing you can use a fine steel wool pad or a nail buff block to restore color. To prevent oxidization, your jewelry should be kept away from water, oils and humid environments. Protect jewelry from abrasive surfaces and avoid contact with moisture, body sweat, lotions and perfumes. Store in a secure, dry place between wears.
Copper: Keep your copper jewelry clean by occasionally washing it with lukewarm, soapy water. Then, dry and polish with a soft cloth.
